I've started to progress the technique a bit with the Sketch Cards.
Like anything, as you practice it again again you improve, finding new ways to express within the confines of a language. Today I was able to improve my basic techniques enough to start producing Sketch Cards that start to actually be something. As always I'm not terribly interested in figuration, but form is important.
Here I've worked a few colors together, pulling some back and replacing others to give some basic suggestive forms and arguably figures - though not intentional. Using a palette knife in this manner it was tempting to switch to a small sponge or paper wad to smooth things out. Thankfully I persisted and you can see, despite the raw pigment particles showing through, it works to the benefit of the relaxed forms in composition.
