During the Lund Konst/Design Skola I had the opportunity to learn about a very old photographic process known as Gum Prints (gummi-tryck på svensk).
While it in itself is not correct for me, in what I’d like to ultimately see, I can see the process is definitely leading me down a good road. Contact prints, dark room processing, water colors, various chemicals and my own touch, charcoal brushed in between layers to create artificial effects.
Because Gum Prints are not a single-pass printing process but built up over 3, 4, 5, as much as 20 layers I can push in with the charcoal in between layers and have the results softened or intensified as the image is built up. It’s quite the long process but a very enjoyable one.
